Pfirsichblüten-Festival in Shanghai

 

As one of the important folk festivals in Shanghai, the Nanhui Peach Blossom Festival celebrates the beauty of peach blossom and the gem of traditional Nanhui folk culture.

Firstly held in 1991, the festival has progressed rapidly and successfully, entertaining 500,000 visitors each year. Leisure time in the wildness, traditional agriculture, cuisine, art craft booth, in additional to the peach blossom enjoyment, all the beautiful things above made up the whole festival.After 16 years’ development and the accumulation, the Nanhui Peach Blossom Festival has become one of Shanghai well-known traveling festival activities.

It shows the tourists the Nanhui exquisite rural scenery, the simple and honorable nostalgia common social practice in Nanhui.

In 2002, the Peach Blossom Festival was promoted to be the Shanghai Peach Blossom Festival by the Shanghai people's government. It not only enhanced Nanhui's popularity, but also promoted the interchange between city and country to impetu the tourism.

Nanhui in the new century is now facing the extension of Pudong International Airport and the start of international deepwater port project.
The international deepwater port, the Luyang bridge and Yangshan new scenic area will certainly increase the new brilliance for the new turn of peach blossom festival.
